I have come a long way since my first radio show interview in November of 2008. Since December of last year until now I have done Ron Chepesiuk’s Crime Beat, Burl Barer’s Outlaw Radio, and Ricky Guns Wise Guy Talk Radio. I enjoy doing these radio shows. Each host has their own slant on my father’s story which drums up different questions that they ask me. It always keeps things fresh and interesting. They are also very important in giving me a platform to tell my father’s story and keep my father’s story in the public eye. I have had the opportunity to do as many as 15 shows.

Doing radio shows today were much different than when I first began doing them in 2008. Back then I was doing it while we were trying to have Larry Neumann named as the killer of my father and Pat. I would not say that I was uncomfortable because I wasn’t.  I was very mindful that the radio show helps in keeping pressure on McHenry County Sheriff’s office to name Larry as the killer. I could have easily said something wrong that could have derailed that goal or mission, and that is where the pressure would come from. At that time I was not just speaking for myself, I was speaking for Scharff and Freeman family members. I was very careful in how I replied back to the questions asked. I could not just speak my mind. It could have a negative impact or it could have represented a view that not all family members shared. This is a contrast to me today. I speak my mind for the most part because I am only

representing myself. We were successful in naming Larry Neumann as the killer of my father, Ron Scharff and his employee, Patricia Freeman, so I do not feel the immense pressure of trying not to fail when being interviewed. I am much more relaxed doing these shows now a day. However my first show is one of my favorites. It was a one in a lifetime chance to have everyone on the show that we had that day. It was my first indoctrination in using a public platform to speak about my father’s case, and it was a really positive experience.

It was November of 2008. At this time I have my interview with Carol Marin of NBC News 5 Chicago scheduled.  We had an exclusive with NBC 5, meaning that we could not tell the story to anyone until

this interviewed aired first. However, with the sheriff’s office taking over two months in trying to figure out what statement that they wanted to make, NBC 5 allowed us to do Denny Griffin’s radio show. Denny is the co-author of the book CULLOTTA, which is autobiography of Frank Cullotta, a Chicago Outfit associate that turned government witness. He is who I reached out to after Jim Hager called me and told me that Larry Neumann was the killer of my father. He read it in Frank’s book after his daughter Holly sent him the book and after she had read it.

Denny’s radio show at the time was called Las Vegas and the Mob. I remember being really excited about doing this show. This was also going to be the first time that I have spoken to Frank Cullotta and Dennis Arnoldy. Dennis was Frank’s FBI Debriefer when he turned government witness. He led the team of law enforcement that captured the Hole in the Wall Gang when they tried to rob

Bertha’s Gifts and Home Furnishings on the 4th of July, 1981. This is not only my favorite show because it was my first but because of everyone that was on it. We had Denny and me, and we also had Frank Cullotta, Dennis Arnoldy, Holly Hager, and Jim Hager. Jim Hager is no longer with this and that gives me all that much more reason to cherish the show even more. Denny Griffin was the host and the co-author of Frank Cullotta’s book that on page 130 told me who killed my father. Frank Cullotta was the mobster who turned government witness and told McHenry County back in 1982 that it was Larry Neumann that killed my father. Dennis Arnoldy was a Special Agent with the FBI that in 1982 who also told McHenry County that Larry Neumann killed my father. Holly Hager is the daughter of Jim and my former babysitter. She was the one that researched Larry Neumann after talking to her dad, and found the book CULLOTTA with it saying that Larry Neumann killed my dad and Pat. Jim Hager was my dad’s best friend and he told McHenry County that Larry Neumann may have killed my father back in 1981.

CULLOTTAI called into the radio show so I was unfamiliar with any protocols and I had no idea what to expect. Well I did expect one thing. That when I called in that everyone else would be on the phone too, but it was only Denny and I. Denny said not to worry, but that went in one ear and right out the other. I was very worried. I just told everyone to listen to the show. My friends have heard me run my mouth before; they were more interested in hearing from everyone else. Not to mention that this was my first event if you will in kicking off my campaign to name Larry Neumann as the killer of my father. This is not working out the way that I hoped, but I had to relax and focus. It looks like it is only going to be me and Denny on this one.

The show starts and Denny kicks in. I cannot tell if he is being a good host providing background information or if he was stalling. Either case I am thinking that he is doing a good job. He introduces me and my tone is serious. I am as serious as a heart attack. I am also talking slower than I normally would and using a subdued voice. I am more excitable when I am talking or telling stories but not that day. I did not want to screw up anything and wanted to be ready if Denny asks me a question. Denny explains to the audience that Frank Cullotta use to work for Tony Spilotro in Las Vegas. After he provides everyone with an explanation of who Frank is, it is almost six or seven minutes into the show.

Then he introduces Frank. Whew…. I felt some relieve. I knew that everyone wanted to hear from Frank and here he is. Frank and I have never spoken directly to each other before this. Frank says Hi to me and I reply back in tone that was closer to my everyday voice, I was excited that I just said Hello to Frank Cullotta. Denny starts to interview Frank and shortly thereafter he was telling us how he thought that he talked Larry Neumann out of killing my father. Nothing was to shocking but I knew that I need to disconnect myself from my feeling or attachments to my father. I did not ever want to be caught off guard being emotional about my father while I was publically talking about him. After 15 minutes I hear Denny introduce Dennis Arnoldy. I was like alright, here we go, but Denny had problems bringing him online. Then Denny mentions that he has a call from the 815 area code. I know this to be a McHenry number…it was Holly. My babysitter is now on the line. Denny asks Holly how she came across the book CULLOTTA and she tells her story. Denny introduces Dennis Arnoldy again and they are connected. He greeted everyone and I see that this show is really coming together. It was hard to imagine with all this information that McHenry County never picked up Larry Neumann. It told me that things were really wrong with my father’s case.

I am not able to take in all this information and still pay attention but I knew that we were killing it. We were telling this incredible story with people that had first-hand knowledge of what it is that they were talking about. Everyone was here except Jim Hager. I knew that this show was flowing but where is Jim. Dennis Arnoldy than mentions a newspaper article that was written in Las Vegas at the time. This article was critical in me connecting McHenry County Sheriff George Hendle to the Chicago Outfit. I would not see this article or even understand it until almost four years later after he mentions it on this show.

Holly started talking and she alludes to my thinking and interrupts herself. “My dad is supposed to be calling… I just tracked him down 20 minutes ago; he said that he would go home and call.” Denny says that we have another caller. “Hello you are the line,” says Denny to the caller. The caller responds with “HELL-O.” Holly and I both say on the air, that’s Jim! Now everyone is on the line. Holly is telling stories on how she was affected by the murders and how the sheriff’s department found out about Larry Neumann was the killer. Denny starting asking Jim questions about how he knew Larry Neumann. He also asked Jim about Larry’s ex-wife Debbie.

Jim recalled the night that my dad threw her out of the bar. This is the reason why my father was killed. Denny asks Jim if Debbie was a regular at the bar and if she had a reputation as a troublemaker. “Oh yeah, she had a big mouth.” This drew in laughter from Frank as he agreed. What started happening was Jim and Frank started to go back and forth about Larry.

Frank Cullotta and Jim Hager had never met each other or even knew each other existed until this day. Not exactly true because Jim did read his book; but never have spoken to each other until this radio show. You would never have known that while you listened. They were talking about Debbie and going back and forth. They also talked about the night that my father threw Debbie out of the bar. Jim would talk about what he witnessed and Frank would talk about the telephone call that Larry received from Debbie that same night at his restaurant the Upper Crust.

Jim started telling the audience how Larry Neumann enjoyed hurting and killing people. He shared a story of when he lent some keys to the gate of Petersen Sand and Gravel to a black woman. This was a gravel pit that Jim worked at and the woman was living in one of the farm houses on the property. The woman lived there with her young son. She stopped at my father’s bar to ask and get the keys from Jim. A half hour later Jim wondered out loud where is this woman at. The gravel pit was only a couple of minutes down the road. Larry sparked up with a racial slur and said let’s get this bitch. Larry, Jim, my father, and a fourth person hopped into my father’s station wagon and drove to the gravel pit. At the gate were the woman and her young son. Larry was going to kill her and her son right there on the spot. Jim was desperately trying to talk him out of it. It took a while but Larry allowed them to live. It was a real incredible story hearing it from Jim because he was there and right in the middle of it.

There were other stories that were told about Larry. Based on Holly’s research and review of court records, Larry was very smart. This was also confirmed by Frank Cullotta. Holly’s sister Heidi called in and they both talked about being called into the sheriff’s office to talk to Andrew Zinke. We all talked about how Larry did not have to hurt or kill people because he was well to do with a trust fund left by his father. Frank talked about being on the “Goon Squad,” with Larry in the prison hospital. Frank Cullotta and Dennis Arnoldy offered to help me in any way that they can. It was a wildly interesting show but judge for yourself. Listen to Las Vegas and the Mob with Denny Griffin, Frank Cullotta, Dennis Arnoldy, Holly Hager, Jim Hager, and myself Paul Scharff.

KNOWLEDGE CENTER

I have put together some of the articles that I have written that are prevalent for the upcoming election in MARCH!. This is the Republican Nominee election but probably more important than the general election. It is most likely the winner in March will win in November and become sheriff. If you review the articles in the Knowledge Center, you will read all kinds of unbelievable things as it relates to this election.

My mother and father, Ron and Kathy Scharff, 1969.

Freedom of Information Act Appeal to get the remainder of my father’s file. In my efforts to get to the bottom of my father’s murder and what the McHenry County Sheriff’s office has done to me and my family 33 years ago. I filed a FOIA Request (Freedom of Information Act Request) to get my father’s case file. Many documents were withheld from my request. It is my believe the documents are withheld to protect guilty individuals that are known to Sheriff Keith Nygren and Undersheriff Andrew Zinke that covered up who actually killed my father during the original investigation. Start on page 11 to read what sounds like a murder mystery thriller, but this is my true life. It is backed by FBI reports, witness statements, and newspaper articles.

Undersheriff Andrew Zinke and the Rita Corporation on RT 31Andrew Zinke for McHenry County Sheriff, Really??? This article is based on my own father’s murder investigation and Undersheriff Andrew Zinke. I talked about how he made his own milestones and failed to meet every single one. How it took me calling NBC News Chicago to get Andrew Zinke to return my phone call about my father’s murder investigation, as he was the lead investigator. I am fighting to get the remainder of my father’s case file. It is my believe that Undersheriff Andrew Zinke and the Sheriff Keith Nygren are hiding and protecting individuals that covered up the true killer of my father during the original investigation.

Undersheriff Andrew Zinke and the Rita Corporation on RT 31Andrew Zinke plus Rita Corporation equals ON THE TAKE Brian Goode and his RITA Corporation was a person of interest and focal point for the investigation of the distribution of 30 plus tons of marijuana. Undersheriff Andrew Zinke told Brian Goode of the investigation. Two days later, according to Koziol, (Sgt. Koziol was working on the investigation and filed a complaint against Zinke) Goode gave Zinke’s election campaign a $5,000 donation. The RITA Corporation address is the same address as Andrew Zinke’s campaign headquarters.

Deputy Zane SeiplerMcHenry County Deputy Zane Seipler under siege, Again!! Zane Seipler is a whistleblowing deputy that was fired by Keith Nygren after he exposed the sheriff’s office for racial profiling. Nygren was forced to hire Seipler back after he lost an arbitration ruling, a court hearing, an appellate court hearing, and a failed attempt to be heard by the Illinois State Supreme Court. After Seipler was hired back, Nygren fired him again. Zane Seipler is currently fighting to get his job back.

Deputy Scott Milliman in uniform.

Another McHenry County Deputy under siege, Scott Milliman Scott Milliman was a deputy and former right hand man to Sheriff Keith Nygren. He was fired by the sheriff for whistleblowing that the sheriff allegedly transacted in ticket fixing, bribery, general corruption, fraud in a SBA Loan, and in tapping Milliman himself to kill a McHenry County Judge and a Coroner’s Candidate. Scott Milliman is currently fighting to get his job back.

Gary Gauger, of Richmond, was wrongly convicted of murdering his parents in 1993 and sentenced to death. After years in prison his sentence was overturned and two gang members were later convicted of the murders. Gauger is released a book detailing the event called IN SPITE OF THE SYSTEM. (Ryan Rayburn photo)

How Gary Gauger got to DEATH ROW This is the real life, tragic story of Gary Gauger. He was falsely arrested and sent to Death Row by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department for the double murder of his parents. Investigators from the sheriff’s department rigged a false confession so that they could convict him.

McHenry County Ethics Commission, Ethical or NOT!?!? The McHenry County Ethics Commission conducted a hearing of a complaint filed by Cal Skinner that Undersheriff Andrew Zinke used a government computer for a very politically charged email. The hearing was ran over by Zinke’s attorneys Mark Gummerson and Rebecca Lee. The sign up sheet to speak at the hearing went missing but found in the possession of Rebecca Lee. The commission went into secret session, made its decision, and did so without explanation.

Pete Gonigam, publisher of the First Electric Newspaper.

First Electric Newspaper v.s. Sheriff Nygren and EEO Officer Donald Leist Pete Gonigam won a Public Access Bureau (Illinois States Attorney) appeal for the release of a 100 page report conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s office. The report exonerated Undersheriff Andrew Zinke after he told Brian Goode that he and his RITA Corporation was a the focal point of a drug investigation by the DEA.

Undersheriff Andrew Zinke giving Cal Skinner the finger at the 4th of July Parade in Crystal Lake, IL.

Zinke’s middle finger may cost Cal Skinner $5,000 After filing a valid ethics complaint against Undersheriff Andrew Zinke for using a government computer for his campaign, Cal Skinner was to face Zinke’s attorney Mark Gummerson. Gummerson was lobbying for a $5,000 fine against Skinner filing a valid complaint. An act of bulling and intimidation of a McHenry County citizen.

Will McHenry County be Ripped Off by Special Interest in Sheriff Election? I question the interest and the contribution to Undersheriff Andrew Zinke’s campaign from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150 election. I send a letter to the President-Business Manager of the union James M. Sweeney.

Zinke-looking-right-eyes-at-cameraAndrew Zinke Fearful to Debate Bill Prim Lies to Get Out of It. Undersheriff Andrew Zinke is so fearful to debate Bill Prim for McHenry County Sheriff that he lies to get out of it. Zinke knows that he would be out matched, outwitted, and the truth of his corrupt character would be revealed to the citizens of McHenry County. Instead of enduring such damage to his campaign he lies to coward out of it.

Sheriff Keith Nygren

Is Sheriff Nygren and Undersheriff Zinke Intimidating and Tampering with Federal Witnesses? Is Sheriff Nygren and Undersheriff Zinke intimidating federal witnesses? Or are the deputies fighting back? Donald Leist, the sheriff’s in house lawyer sent a letter to 30 deputies and correctional officers to be interrogated prior to their depositions in a federal case. Would that work anywhere else in the US or just McHerny County?
